The Town of Shelburne Parks and Recreation Department has re-launched the popular 10,000 Step Challenge Program.   This program challenges participants to be more active and to keep track of their daily steps.  Step Counters (pedometers) can be borrowed from the Department or purchased at a low cost.  Visit the website, or contact the Department, to find information and tools to support you in your formal (or informal) walking program.  Sample walking plans, log sheets and additional information are available free of charge.

A community partnership program between the YMCA of Greater Halifax/Dartmouth and the QEII Health Sciences Centre (Capital Health).

Fully accessible fitness programming for individuals with neurological disorders.  Designed to provide opportunities through fitness for a healthy lifestyle.  Includes equipment appropriate for wheelchairs, etc.  Led by a certified fitness professional and a team of volunteers.  Offered three evenings per week.  This program is not a rehabilitation program; please contact for further information. 

Addiction Services promotes the health of individuals, families and communities by providing prevention and health promotion programs and treatment services related to drugs (alcohol, tobacco and other drugs) and gambling. The goal is to maintain or improve health and reduce the harm associated with drugs and gambling.  Contact local offices for more information on tobacco services and programming available.

The Annapolis County Workplace Physical Activity Challenge program is targeted at workplaces across the Annapolis County region, encouraging employees to get active while at work!  The program is a 6-week incentive program; contact for information on receiving an introduction package for your workplace.  A great program for workplace wellness!

Community group meets monthly at St. Martha's Hospital in Antigonish.  For residents of Antigonish and Guysborough counties.  Contact for more information on the group and specific meeting times.

The Annapolis Valley Hants Community Action Program for Children includes three community-based family resource programs:  Apple Tree Landing Children's Centre in Canning, Building Blocks Family Resource Centre in Kennetcook, and Chrysallis House Children's Outreach Program in Kentville.Through these resource centres and a network of outreach programs, the project offers coordinated primary prevention services to families with young children in rural areas. Programs include play and music programs for children, a toy and parent resource library, and workshops and parenting programs for young and single parents.  Contact for more information.
